Members Standard Operation Procedures

M & M Aviation was created out of love for flying and our desire to deliver the best in aviation education and pilot services. Based at the Whiteside County Airport in Rock Falls, our pilot flight training program follows standards established by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Currently, FAA regulations require a minimum of 40 hours of flying for a Private Pilot Certification. Within these 40 hours, you will receive 20 hours of flight training with a federally licensed flight instructor, and at least 10 hours of solo flying by you, the student. Our average total time per student has proven to be around 50-55 hours which is significantly less than the national average of 65-70 hours.

Through a cooperative agreement with the Sauk Valley Community College, M & M Aviation now offers all the aviation-based education at the college. This includes private pilot and instrument pilot ground school classes. Both classes are taught using computer- based materials and learning aids. The ground school classes are intensive looks at all the knowledge material needed to pass the FAA written exam for that rating. Sauk can and does supply the support staff and facilities to make your ground training a comprehensive and successful experience. In fact, we are so sure you will succeed with our ground school program that we can even GUARANTEE your success!! When you’re ready, you can even take all FAA exams right at our Rock Falls facility as we an official C.A.T.S. Testing Center for all FAA and FCC tests. If your Schedule does not permit a regularly scheduled class at Sauk Valley Community College, we also teach all the ground school training required by all ratings on the more traditional one-on-one basis at our facility at the Whiteside County Airport.

Our training program is structured toward you, the individual, whether you are an academic student, in the work force or retired. There is no specific time for the completion of your training. Optimistically, flying 2-3 times week is best; however, we realize that this is not always possible, so we structure our training program to meet your personal schedule. Generally, the program can be completed within 4-6 months. The basic training aircraft we use includes the Piper Cherokee140 and the Piper Warrior. Advanced training can be done in our Piper Arrow (Retractable gear). Both of these aircraft are extremely popular trainers and are also the type of aircraft that many people go on to own as their personal aircraft. They are very well maintained, meeting or exceeding strict FAA guidelines and our own high standards.

Your training may begin immediately, at your convenience. M & M Aviation and Sauk Valley C. C. employ federally certified, professional flight instructors. They are available seven days a week, virtually any time of the day (and sometimes night!) and all year long. We encourage you to begin your training TODAY. Take advantage of our $49 Discovery Ride, during which you will fly the aircraft under the watchful eye of your flight instructor.
